Actually I own a small low end vps and I have started to learn vps management on it but I want to know which linux distro is best for a vps.I mean which is best in terms of performance and reliability.

I think that almost all linux distros are light weight if you don't use any GUI with them but with GUI they might require more resources.By the way I use UBUNTU because I am currently learning server management.

CentOS is one of the more commonly used ones. However, it really comes down to a personal preference. Some like Debian based over the RHEL ones.

Well it really depends on the resource of the vps ... if you have a small vps with 128 mb of ram then i would go for a debian and if you have 512 or more MB of ram .. you can go for CentOS ... which is my favorite too ...

If you would ask me most of them use CentOS ....
