it is a protocol for file transfer over the web! it is a little difficult concept of port used, relation between server, method for upload and more, it is the protocol for file like their are protocol for almost everything on the internet such as http!

It is a protocol for downloading and uploading files through internet.Transferring files from a client computer to a server computer is called "uploading" and transferring from a server to a client is "downloading".

i ignored the FTTP, it is not too much popular to talk about file transfer! ftp control the process of loading of file, upload to go to the internet, download to take from the internet! the protocol use a lot of things such as port, proxy, communication between the space where the file is and where it go, check if access if allowed and more...

FTP as explained is protocol which is basically used to transfer files from one computer to other.Though FTP allowed for sending and retrieving files from a remote computer, it did not facilitate browsing mostly. And now a days http protocol is mostly used by end user because its support both for browsing and file transferring.

By no means HTTP can play role of FTP.I was saying nowadays FTP is not the only protocol which is used for file transfer(at least for downloading) and now HTTP is mostly used to allow end user(visitors) to download file from a site.

Absolutely right said by TheCreator, now HTTP is mostly used to allow end user(visitors) to download file from a site. but we can't ignore ftp importance or can't say that http replace ftp.

It's true that without HTTP, FTP wouldn't be existing. Without HTTP, web wouldn't be existing, is the way to transfer characters from a computer to a server to another computer.

FTP is a file transfer protocol which is used for sending your desktop files to the server or cpanel hosting account in easy words ...

The best and the free software for FTP is Filezilla and its really easy to learn .. all you need is a Hosting account and get the info from the account .. and you are ready to go ..

luckushah is right, is the way you are uploading a file from your computer to your server in order to add it to your site.

agree with lohanporatn , without HTTP no existence of FTP. HTTP is the main protocol which send your data(desktop data) to the web and finally it will be uploaded on internet and can be visible to anyone from all over world by entering the site url only.

FTP and http both work for each other and without any one of them web would not be what it is now. They both have a great role in development of the web.

Yes, FTP and HTTP depends on each other. the website and any web related work can not go properly without any of these.

You can identify FTP addresses very easily, FTP addresses start with "ftp : //" rather than "http : //."

FTP is built on a client-server architecture and uses separate control and data connections between the client and the server.
