Semi-Dedicated and VPS?

I have heard about VPS and learnt a bit about them and now I found one other term semi-dedicated.I want to know how is semi-dedicated different from a VPS.

There is no difference ... a lot of people ask the same question ...

VPS Is just another name for Semi-dedicated servers .. it just makes it sound heavy that's alll....

Semi dedicated is a type of shared hosting where number of clients on a server is way too less than on a normal shared hosting server gives you more power and bandwidth.

And VPS is a like a virtual dedicated server which gives you root access which semi dedicated doesn't.

I did some research over the net and here too and I found that semi dedicated is a special kind of shared hosting unlike a vps which is like a small dedicated.

Semi dedicated hosting specs and definition according to me varies with provider to provider some say it is shared hosting with just 4 to 5 costumers per server and some says they provide dedicated resources on the servers to semi hosting buyers.

Ye semi hosting in nothing like standard VPS which can be compared on the basis of the specs because various host have different thing to offer under the brand name of semi dedicated hosting.

If you are going for the semi dedicated hosting it is suggested that it better to first confirm that the plan provide the facilities you want from the provider.
